      Line Editing:

All line editing includes correcting the manuscript for:

·  Grammar

·  Spelling

·  Punctuation

·  Sentence structure

·  Changes in tone, tense, or person 

·  Subject-verb agreement

·  Consistent usage

·  Parallel structure

     Substantive or Content Editing:

If you request it, in addition to line editing, I will provide objective review and feedback on your manuscript. I may add, change, or delete words to improve clarity and cadence and to enhance the presentation of your submission. I always remain conscious of preserving your style and voice. During this process, some text may be slightly rearranged. 

      How It Works and What It Costs: 

Please make initial inquiries by e-mail to  judith@cope-editing.com.  I like to review a sample of the manuscript before accepting a project.    

Clients are billed by the page, by the hour, or by the project, depending on the services requested and the nature of the project.  

To save time, postage and a tree or two, you may send your manuscript as an e-mail attachment to  judith@cope-editing.com. Before sending a large document, however, and before I can accept your project, I do need to review a small sample of the manuscript.  E-mail me if you have a question about what to send.

You may choose instead to snail-mail me a copy of your manuscript.  I will edit your manuscript in red ink using standard proofreading notations.
